MEMBERS of the Kimberley SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit celebrated Women’s Month on Saturday by holding a gender-based violence (GBV) parade at Kimberley police station.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said members took to the streets on their bicycles and distributed crime-prevention pamphlets.
“The members were under the command of Kimberley FCS commander Lieutenant-Colonel Harriet Mckenzie and were supported by Galeshewe FCS, sector policing and SAPS motor vehicle garage personnel,” said Kock.
“The bicycle and foot patrol campaign focussed on areas such as Greenpoint, Florianville, Colville and shopping complexes in Kimberley and Galeshewe.”
The acting deputy provincial commissioner for Crime Detection, Brigadier Nicky Mills, lauded the police members for their “professional work ethic and passion in fighting against GBV and femicide”.
