Former director of Batho Pele Mining Primary Co-operative arrested for theft

NORTHERN CAPE – Tshepiso Ernest Seekoei (41), a former Director and Chairperson of Batho Pele Mining Primary Co-operative Limited appeared briefly at Kimberley Magistrate’s court today facing a charge of theft.

Hawks’ spokeswoman Nomthandazo Mnisi says it is alleged that during August 2018, Seekoei who was then a Chairperson of Batho Pele Mining Primary Co-operative requested the Company’s bank card from the finance officer claiming that he needs to pay some stuff for the company.

“It is further alleged that the mine committee confronted him, but he failed to account for the money. The company suffered a loss of approximately R855 000.”

“A thorough investigation by the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation team resulted in an arrest of Seekoei today. Seekoei was granted R20 000 bail and the case is postponed to Wednesday, 14 April 2021”
