Residents are done asking municipality nicely

Michael Hawthorne

KIMBERLEY – Angry residents who are disgruntled over a lack of service delivery say they are done talking to the Sol Plaatje Municipality and do not acknowledge them or their authority any longer.

Boyce Makodi, community leader and activist says: “We are no longer engaging them. We no longer recognise them or the authority they hold.”

“They called us (yesterday) regarding a service delivery plan and we went there to tell them they had sufficient time so they should stop speaking to us.”

Premier Zamani Saul must step up

“We only take engagements from the Premier or MEC of COGHSTA.”

“Next week we are gunning for their heads. We cannot allow the same corrupt people to continue heading an institution that is so vital to the people.”

A resident once said, “if your potholes cause a car accident where there are fatalities, Sol Plaatje Municipality will be responsible.”

“We are still forging ahead with our march, the date for the march will be announced today.”

“The lack of service delivery has shown us that the people in charge of running our Municipality don’t care about us. If they did, they wouldn’t be stealing millions that were meant for us to have a life. We are not human beings in their eyes hence the filthy and hazardous communities we are told to live in.”

“We know the current Mayor is being used as a scapegoat for the woes of the Municipality. I want to make it clear to those who are ruining this Municipality behind the scenes, Volgende week, ons kom vir julle.”

“No fear no favour. No violence one voice.”
