KIMBERLEY – Mkhanyisa Xolo, a 32-year-old man, appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s court today, 13 April after he was arrested for possession of an illegal substance.
According to Capt Tessa Jansen, police spokeswoman, members of the Kimberley Crime Prevention Unit were patrolling the area on the N12 near the Engen garage on Sunday, 11 April at about 16:30.
She says they noticed two men standing along the road and stopped and searched them while explaining that they are busy with crime prevention duties.
“One of the men handed Sergeant Mokitimi a brown pharmacy bag, saying that it contained medication. Sgt Mokitimi examined the tablets and noticed that it looked like Mandrax tablets.”
The man was then arrested and charged for possession of suspected illegal drugs, Jansen concludes.
