Kimberley motorists are fed up with potholes all over town. Rudi Witteveen, a Kimberley resident, took to social media to voice his frustration with the Sol Plaatje Municipality digging up potholes but not filling them quickly enough.
He praised the municipality for their efforts in digging up and preparing potholes, but criticised their poor planning in not having a team available to fill the holes. As a result, the potholes have become even bigger and more dangerous.
“It’s really disappointing,” Witteveen said. “The municipality is doing a great job of preparing the potholes, but without a team to fill them in, it’s all for nothing. It’s like they don’t care about the safety of motorists.”
Witteveen also expressed his disappointment with the “useless idiots” he believes are responsible for the lack of follow-up.
“It’s like they don’t even care,” he said. “I understand that there are budget constraints, but this is ridiculous. They need to get their act together and make sure that potholes are filled in as soon as they are dug up.”
It’s clear that Witteveen is not the only one who is frustrated with the Sol Plaatje Municipality’s handling of potholes. Until they are able to come up with a better plan, motorists in Kimberley will continue to face the danger of driving on roads with large, unfilled potholes.
