GAUGTENG – Early on Tuesday morning, a fatal collision occurred on the N14 Highway in Gauteng resulting in the death of one truck driver.
Netcare 911 Spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, says the collision involved two heavy motor vehicles, one of which was transporting scrap metal and the other chicken waste.
The truck carrying scrap metal had broken down when a second truck slammed into the back of it. When medics arrived at the scene they found that the driver of the rear truck had lost his life. The Johannesburg Fire and Rescue services had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver trapped in the mangled remains. Fortunately, the driver of the first truck was not injured.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the relevant authorities. It is not yet known why the second truck crashed into the first, but the tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of safety when driving on the roads.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the truck driver who lost his life in this tragic accident.
