KIMBERLEY – The Sol Plaatje Municipality is taking the necessary steps to ensure that Kimberley residents have access to a reliable water supply. On 25th February, Mark J Erasmus shared an update on the Kimberley Infrastructure Facebook Group regarding the preventative measures being taken by the Sol Plaatje Municipality to avert any issues at the Riverton pump station.
Thoko Riet, the spokesperson for the Sol Plaatje Municipality, reported that the team had drained all water from the pump station and blocked off the pipe, preventing river water from entering the station. In addition, the municipality has assigned a dedicated employee to regularly monitor the pump station to ensure timely response in the event of any issue. The work was successfully concluded on the same day.
These proactive steps taken by the Sol Plaatje Municipality are commendable as they are ensuring that the citizens of Kimberley have access to a reliable water supply. As the river levels in the area continue to rise, the team is keeping a close eye on the pump station to ensure the safety of the citizens.
