Two Senior Members of Ramaphosa’s Cabinet Allegedly Linked to Criminal Cartels Inside Eskom

Editorial Staff

Reports of criminal cartels operating inside Eskom have recently been linked to two senior members of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Cabinet. In an interview with Newzroom Afrika, City Press journalist Erika Gibson shared details of the intelligence reports obtained by Daily Maverick.

Gibson confirmed that Minister Gordon was kept up to date with the findings of the investigation team. However, there is no information as to what Minister Gordon did with the information that was reported to him. Gibson is not able to reveal the names of the two cabinet members allegedly involved in the corrupt activities at Eskom for legal reasons.

The Minister of Police has stated that there is a Deputy Commissioner of the police stationed at Eskom, who is part of the team trying to uncover the web of corruption. Gibson has stated that there is concern that some of the cartels have links with the police in Mpumalanga. For this reason, specialist units from other provinces have been brought in to investigate specific aspects. Additionally, a former General is in the process of being appointed to a specific post in order to take the investigation further.

It is clear that uncovering the web of corruption is a complicated process and requires expertise. Gibson is one of the people that can be tapped into for clarity around this issue. It is hoped that those responsible for the corrupt activities will be held accountable and justice will be served.
