FLORIDA – The Rand Society of Model Engineers (RSME) experienced a heartbreaking loss when looters stole critical components off of their 100-year-old stationary engines. This loss was a devastating blow to society, as these engines were fully functioning and a rare gem for engineering enthusiasts, as well as a valuable educational tool for kids interested in engineering.
Thankfully, the RSME was saved from further destruction by the kind people at Fine Automation, who donated and installed an alarm system to deter any further looting. Without this generous act of kindness, the RSME would have likely lost all of its engines, leaving them without the working models that allow kids to learn the basics of engine dynamics.
Fine Automation is a company that manufactures wireless systems and controls, and RSME is truly thankful for its help. They are a great example of how people can come together to give back to their community and make a difference. If anyone is interested in supporting the RSME or donating to Fine Automation, please check out their website at www.fineautomation.co.za.
