Fraudulent Grade 12 Certificates Lead to Arrests in NC

KIMBERLEY – Five individuals were arrested in the Northern Cape after they submitted fraudulent grade 12 certificates while applying for Constable posts. The alertness and vigilance of the Provincial Human Resource Management Recruitment section led to the investigation, apprehension and arrests.

The Recruitment personnel questioned the authenticity of the documents and approached the Department of Education and UMALUSI to validate the certificates presented to them. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the certificates were fraudulent and the case was referred to the Provincial Anti-Corruption unit.

The five suspects, which included two females and three males, were arrested and appeared in the Kimberley Magistrates Court on 07 March 2023. The SAPS in the Northern Cape has issued a stern warning to the public, that the police will not tolerate such dishonest actions when it comes to applying for employment in the organization. They must be assured that all documents submitted will be thoroughly scrutinized and the police will not hesitate to enforce the law.

The SAPS encourages all job seekers to be honest and truthful in their applications. Fraudulent documents and false information will result in criminal prosecution. All applicants must ensure that their documents are authentic and that their information is accurate, as any discrepancies will lead to the rejection of their application.

The police have reiterated that they take the matter of authenticity of documents seriously and will not hesitate to take action against any individual who submits fraudulent documents. All job seekers must be aware that their actions have consequences and that they could face criminal prosecution if they are found to have submitted fraudulent documents.
