KIMBERLEY – The Sol Plaatje Municipality has provided an update regarding the water interruption in areas supplied by the Newton Reservoirs. The municipality’s technical team completed the cleaning of two clarifiers at the Riverton Water Treatment Works yesterday, and will now proceed with the desludging of the additional two clarifiers today.
Residents in the Kimberley CBD and some surrounding suburbs have been experiencing low to no water due to the ongoing maintenance work. While efforts are being made to restore the water supply to normal, it has been noted that the water levels at Newton Reservoirs are still low.
As a result, the municipality urges residents to exercise patience during this time and conserve water as much as possible. Residents are requested to refrain from watering their gardens and reserve water solely for consumption. This will ensure that the water pumped into the reservoirs can reach sufficient levels to generate enough pressure and supply all areas in Kimberley.
The community is encouraged to adopt water-conserving habits and utilize water wisely during this temporary inconvenience. The Sol Plaatje Municipality recognizes and appreciates the patience and understanding of the residents as their dedicated team works tirelessly to resolve the water supply issue.
