KIMBERLEY – In a much-anticipated update on the Kimberley water shutdown, Chris Whittaker, a councillor from the Sol Plaatje Municipality shared the latest developments at 14:00 on today. Councillors Ockie Fourie and Whittaker conducted an on-site verification of the water supply situation.
According to Whittaker, pumping from Riverton commenced after 10:00, and water successfully reached the Midlands junction. While the system fills up, water distribution is expected to reach all residents, with estimates indicating for later this evening or early tomorrow morning for a resolution.
Whittaker expressed gratitude to all residents and businesses who generously offered their boreholes to the community during this challenging experience.
