NORTHERN CAPE – In the wake of 92 distressing complaints from Kimberley residents grappling with the ongoing water crisis, The Kimberley Prospector has taken a decisive step by lodging a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) on behalf of all affected individuals in the community.
The decision to file the complaint comes after the newspaper received no response from the SAHRC to its media inquiries yesterday regarding whether the SAHRC is actively investigating the water crisis. Despite Councillor Ockert Fourie’s acknowledgement that complaints have been lodged with the SAHRC in the past, The Kimberley Prospector remains disheartened, questioning the efficacy of such complaints given the persisting challenges faced by the community.
Undeterred, The Kimberley Prospector reaffirms its commitment to stand as a voice for the residents, vowing to continue reporting on the water crisis and exerting pressure on state entities until the community’s concerns are addressed.
