Editorial Staff

KIMBERLEY – In a commendable display of collaboration between community members and security forces, a set of four appealing mag wheels was successfully recovered in Carters Glen, Kimberley. The incident took place on Monday, 29th January 2024, at approximately 13:57.

The Carters Glen Community Policing Forum (CPF) played a crucial role in this operation when a vigilant CPF member alerted Iron Claw Security and Investigation (I.C.S.I) about four suspicious males carrying the stolen wheels down Sinovich Ave in Carters Glen. Promptly responding to the call, I.C.S.I intercepted the suspects as they walked through the veld.

Upon approaching the individuals with their vehicle, the suspects dropped the stolen wheels and attempted to escape. A quick and coordinated effort by I.C.S.I and the Carters Glen Neighbourhood Watch resulted in the apprehension of two suspects. The remaining two suspects managed to split up and flee in different directions.

A pursuit ensued, and the I.C.S.I team, along with CPF and Neighbourhood Watch members, tracked down the third suspect near Club 2000. The chase continued into the veld, at the corner of Green Street and Nobengula Str, where the suspect was successfully apprehended.

Following a thorough questioning process, the investigators discovered the origin of the stolen items. The South African Police Service (SAPS) was immediately notified. In collaboration with I.C.S.I and a CPF member, SAPS visited the premises from which the items were taken. Unfortunately, the homeowners were not present at the time.

To ensure accountability and due process, the suspects were taken to the police station for further detention. The stolen items were officially booked in at SAPS13, and a docket was opened to initiate a comprehensive investigation.

The successful recovery operation was a testament to the effective partnership between private security firms, community policing forums, and law enforcement agencies. The collaboration played a pivotal role in making the city safer for its residents. Special appreciation goes to Iron Claw Security and Investigation for their swift response and coordination, as well as the Carters Glen Neighbourhood Watch and CPF members who actively participated in apprehending the suspects and ensuring the stolen goods were returned to their rightful owners.
