A student and EFF member, Tebogo Kaulela, has filed an urgent court application seeking to compel Sol Plaatje Municipality to resolve the city’s ongoing service delivery failures by early 2026. In court papers, Kaulela argues that severe water contamination, environmental pollution, and failing sanitation infrastructure is exposing residents — including children and the elderly — to waterborne diseases such as cholera. He highlighted persistent sewer spillages, blocked drains, and deteriorating water quality, saying the municipality’s neglect amounts to a human rights violation
