Mother pleads for leniency as sentencing looms for man convicted of rape

The mother of Douglas Mthukwane, pleaded with the court not to impose a life sentence on her son, who was convicted on four counts of rape involving two women, including a 14-year-old girl. During pre-sentencing proceedings, defence evidence highlighted his troubled upbringing, medical condition, and difficult childhood.
