A major police crackdown led by Northern Cape provincial commissioner Lieutenant-General Koliswa Otola in Kuruman resulted in arrests, business closures, immigration-related arrests and the confiscation of alcohol as authorities intensified efforts to combat crime in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District.
