Principal suspended for “lowering pupil into pit toilet” to search for dropped cellphone

The principal of Luthuthu Primary School in Ugie, Eastern Cape has been suspended and charged with attempted murder after allegedly “lowering a 4th-grade pupil into a pit toilet” to retrieve his dropped cellphone.

The child was left traumatised after searching through piles of faeces with his hands for the lost smartphone.

The 49-year-old man believed to be the principal of Luthuthu Primary School in Ugie, Eastern Cape is expected to appear in the Nqanqarha (Maclear) Magistrates court on Tuesday for attempted murder
