Kangnas Wind Farm Opens Doors of Opportunity for Local Students

Editorial Staff

SPRINGBOK – Kangnas Wind Farm, together with the District Municipality and other stakeholders, recently gathered for a meet and greet event with 11 beneficiary students of their bursary programme. The aim of the event was to motivate the students, as well as to introduce the programme to the Department of Education and representatives of both the Nama-Khoi and the District Municipality.

The bursary programme is aimed at providing financial support to local students of Springbok, a rural town in South Africa so that they are able to access higher education and make a difference in their communities upon graduation. This year, one new recipient joined the programme, and one student successfully graduated with a Diploma in Early Childhood Development.

The bursary programme is not just limited to funding the academic studies of the students but also aims to provide them with support in securing work placements for practical training upon completion of their studies. This would be done through interviews with the students, which will be broadcasted on the local radio station.

The student cohort is studying a range of fields, from BCom Sports Management and BEd to Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSocSc), Early Childhood Development, and even Nursing.

Blanche Parring, a student and beneficiary of the bursary programme, shared the story of her journey so far. “Know that life is not always fair and that you will fail often, but always remember to never give up”, she said.

The bursary programme is a great opportunity for the youth of the Springbok community to gain access to higher education and to make a difference in their communities. It is a shining example of how collaboration between stakeholders can make a real difference in the lives of students.
