KIMBERLEY – Residents in Kimberley are grappling with an ongoing water supply challenge, waking up without water for what seems to be the 100th day this year. The issue stems from nightly shutdowns at the Newton Reservoir aimed at maintaining water levels, causing significant disruptions to daily life.
In response to the escalating concerns, the Sol Plaatje Municipality has dispatched its engineer to conduct an investigation at the Newton Reservoir. The municipality recently adjusted the schedule, opening the water supply an hour earlier at 3:00 in the morning. However, this change has not alleviated the situation for many residents who continue to face the daily struggle of starting their day without water.
“We acknowledge the frustration and inconvenience faced by residents due to the ongoing water supply disruptions. The engineer is on-site to assess the situation and identify a sustainable solution,” stated [Spokesperson’s Name], spokesperson for Sol Plaatje Municipality.
The Kimberley Prospector encourages residents to share their experiences and concerns with the Sol Plaatje Municipality to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the issue. The newspaper remains dedicated to keeping the community informed and advocating for a lasting solution to the persistent water challenges faced by Kimberley residents.
