In a recent update issued on Saturday, 25th November 2023, at 21:30, the Sol Plaatje Municipality addressed the water supply situation for residents in the Kimberley CBD and surrounding residential areas.
The municipality announced that there will be running water available from 5:00 to 9:00 on Sunday, 26 November 2023. However, after this period, the network will be supplied using only one pump to maintain reservoir levels, resulting in lower water pressure.
Water tankering remains in force, and residents are encouraged to contact Mr. Saul Maseng at 073 381 5218 or Mr. Davish Leeuw at 082 416 3478 for assistance. The municipality emphasizes the need for residents to use water sparingly and be considerate of others, especially as the uptake through JoJo tanks has strained the water supply.
Nightly interruptions, as previously communicated, will be implemented from 21:00 to 4:00 tomorrow to achieve the desired dam levels at the Newton Reservoirs.
Thabo Mothibi, the Communications Manager for Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, expressed deep apologies for any inconvenience caused during the municipality’s ongoing efforts to ensure water security.
The Sol Plaatje Municipality continues to navigate challenges to provide a consistent and secure water supply to the community. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and cooperate with the outlined measures as the municipality works towards resolving the water supply issues.
