Kimberley Water Crisis Update: Critical Reservoir Levels Force Shutdown Again

Editorial Staff

In a disheartening development, as of 09:30 this morning, Newton Reservoir in Kimberley is operating on a single pump. Unfortunately, due to the reservoir’s critically low levels, the lone functioning pump will be shut down at 12:20. This exacerbates the already challenging situation for Kimberley residents, leaving many without a drop of municipal water since November 21.

In response to the growing crisis, The Kimberley Prospector initiated the Kimberley Water Supply Feedback Form to better understand the extent of affected areas. Over 77 reports have been received, revealing that Belgravia, Herlear, Hadison Park, Beaconsfield, and South Ridge are among the most severely impacted.

The breakdown of reports by area is as follows:

Residents are urged to share their water challenges by filling out the Kimberley Water Supply Feedback Form. This collaborative effort aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the crisis and work towards a swifter resolution.

The Kimberley Prospector continues to be a voice for the community, amplifying the concerns of affected residents. The water crisis remains a critical issue, impacting daily lives, businesses, and overall well-being. It is crucial for residents to join forces and share their experiences to foster community-driven solutions.

No Solutions Just Politics

As an unbiased and bipartisan community newspaper, we are deeply disappointed in the politicization of media and information. The silence, vague answers, and apparent lack of accountability echo practices one might expect from the failing government in the Northern Cape. Stay tuned for our comprehensive coverage as we unveil the intricacies behind the ongoing political and media dynamics.
