KIMBERLEY – Recently, social media reports circulated suggesting that buildings at Sol Plaatje University (SPU) were torched during student protests. In response, SPU has released a statement emphatically denying these reports.

SPU addressed these false claims in a public statement, saying, “Please note the social media reports that Sol Plaatje University (SPU) buildings were alleged to have been torched during recent student protests is FAKE NEWS. SPU can categorically place on record that no university property was set alight or damaged during the recent student protest.”
